Renting a Florida Vacation Rental from the Owner vs. an Agency

Since the winter will be here in a few short months, many are already looking into Florida vacation rental offers. As most realize, these offers vary greatly in price and specific accommodations. There is also another major difference between these various rental properties. Some rentals are offered by a rental service while others are offered directly from the owner. Yes, there will be those who do not see much of a difference between the two. Honestly, the differences between the two are fairly minimal; but, there are certain aspects that need to be taken into consideration. This is because the operational approach of a rental service is significantly different from the way an owner operates.

One such difference is the way customer service is operated. A professional rental service has the ability to respond to questions and concerns quite effectively. This is because the service has regular business hours and employees to handle such concerns. The owner of the property, however, lacks these types of resources since the owner is not running a full time rental business. This can prove somewhat problematic if issues and concerns arise that require immediate responses. If you are in Florida and the owner of the properties is in Washington State, the difficulties of having such a problem handled are obvious.

When it comes to procuring the services of a rental agency there will be a number of fees associated with the service. It is not uncommon to pay a rental service a subscription fee in order to have access to the properties they are offering. In some instances, these costs are pawned off on the owner of the property. This leads to the owner charging a higher rental fee for the property.

Often, these differences are not “deal breakers” but the differences do require additional attention. That is why they are worth looking at.
